Google Introduces New Search Appliance

Google has introduced a new version of its Google Search Appliance that can now index up to 10 million documents of an organization’s content in a single box.

It is now easier than ever for companies to give all employees a Google.com search experience inside their business. The GSA makes all of the information that employees need to be productive accessible through a single easy-to-use search box. It uses Google software to run the search services and runs on storage hardware from Dell.

When it is installed in a network, the appliance allows users to find documents in a variety of corporate content systems including EMC Documentum, IBM FileNet, OpenText Livelink, and Microsoft SharePoint.

New features include better encryption powers and Google Alerts that notify users when new documents are stored on the network by co-workers.
