iPhone “Tilt”

leave a comment »

So when Sega and Apple started to talk about how they might work together in the realm of the new iPhone, they instantly thought “Super Monkey Ball”. The user tilts the game back and forth to control a ball through a series of obstacles. Much more fun than just twiddling your thumbs.

Check out this demonstration video on YouTube.

Honda navigation system warns drivers of high crime areas

leave a comment »

Navigation systems are really becoming a driver’s must have accessory, so manufacturers are adding some really sophisticated features to keep people interested. In Japan, for example, Honda has developed a crime rate detecting GPS that will search through local police records to alert drivers in real-time if they ever happen to drive by high crime areas.

The on-board navigation system to be installed in newer Honda cars will specifically warn drivers when they’re too close to high risk areas where a good number of cars have been previously stolen, damaged, or broken into.

The Tipping Point – The Rest!

leave a comment »

I finally finished the book this weekend.

The main take away is that small change is all that is needed to tweak an idea.

There are three types of people – Connectors, Mavens and Salesman – all important in spreading an idea.

The other main idea is that we don’t know how humans react and sometimes this happens in different ways. i.e. relying on gut feeling is not enough. The point of the book is to do market research and see what works. Most ideas are good just executed wrongly. It doesn’t cost a massive marketing campaign to get it right, you need to have the fundamentals in place.

A great read. I highly recommend, the big different between our ideas being massive!

Awesome PDF Magazines & Issuu PDF Publishing

leave a comment »

This is a list of very cool pdf magazines. Lots of great art and design.. Etel magazine has a very nice interface for viewing the mags (with shades of PicLens), which is powered by another site called Issuu.  You just upload your PDF mag to Issuu.com and then link to it from your own site for all of the flashy animated goodness. Very Cool. This is definitely worth noting if we ever have any clients who wants to publish their own pdf mags.

I am a bit embarrassed to admit this, but this is the first time I’d heard of the pdf magazine concept… I’m loving it though. And will be subscribing to a few too.
